How similiar are 4 string and 5 string bass guitars when learning?
Q. I recently got a 5 string bass guitar and was planning on teaching myself until next year. However, I have found that most of the online lessons are for four strings. Is there must difference in the method? If so what are the main differences and is it ok to learn from one of the 4 string lessons on a 5 string? If anyone could supply a link to 5 string bass guitar online free lessons that would help. Thanks.
Asked by M L - Tue Nov 18 03:51:57 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The difference in the method is that you've got two or three more low notes per scale. Just learn what they are, per key. Map out the notes on paper, then memorize that graph. Sublimate the repeating patterns that make up "musical structure."

A. They don't look at that stuff at all. Universities only look at what you send them like grades, activites, SAT scores, or letters of recommendation. I had a 5 day suspension for alcohol and have skipped weeks of school at a time and I still got into most of the UC's I applied to including UCLA. Just make sure to really stop doing those things or your gpa might get hurt. Good luck!

What is the difference between Kotler's 5 stages of buying process, and the 5 stages of his adoption process?
Q. According to Kotler's Principles of Marketing, the 5 five sages of the buying decision process includes: need recognition, information search, evaluation of alternatives, purchase decision and postpurchase behaviour. Makes sense. But then he also writes about the 5 stages of the adoption process, which to me are quite similar yet not the same: awareness, interest, evaluation, trial and adoption. So what exactly is the difference? And how do they relate to eachother? I'm so confused! And it's for my thesis!
Asked by cathalijntje - Tue Nov 27 15:48:44 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. i cant recall the adoption process but i think there's a big deal of difference b/w the 2. had there been a similarity or a difference, kotler would have mentioned right there in the book. you should consult other books. don't stick to kotler. these processes are not of his research, they are general.

A. There is a thing called a "Codec" and Dolby labs came up with one called "AC3". It takes 6 channels of audio analog sound, compresses each channel and puts it into a single stream of data that can be pulled apart and decoded at the other end back into 6 channels. It was fairly high-quality and Dolby tried to make money selling it on professional quality sound cards for production studios. But the MPEG specifications did similar work and was public domain so it was a lot cheaper. ($125/card license fee to Dolby). So people started flocking to Mpeg instead of AC3. So when they were trying to decide the sound format for HDTV - Dolby offered it's AC3 or "Dolby Digital" sound compression routines to the committee and it was adopted as the… [cont.]

Is my 5 month old son too young to have half juice and half water? And when I can start him on baby food?
Q. Is my 5 month old too young to drink half juice and half water? If so when can I start him on that. When can I start him on baby food?
Asked by Amanda F - Tue Jan 20 15:10:39 2009 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can give some light juices like pear and apple about 4 months. I used pear and apple juice in my daughters cereal to start out with also. You want to avoid juices like orange that will be higher in acid. A baby can start eating rice cereal about 4 mo. then go from there with the different cereals. At about 6 mo. your child can start having stage 1 baby foods. Some suggest trying vegetable before fruits and vise versa, so just go with your instincts. Also you want to try one food for several days to test for an allergy. They move to a different food for several days, then so on. If your baby doesn't seem to care for one type, keep trying over a few days, or wait a week or so. Baby's taste change very quickly. Be sure to keep… [cont.]

A. Anything really. That really depends on the author/person. I can answer for myself, however: #1) Life long dream #2) I've always loved reading and writing #3) Signs(This might sound stupid but things like ads on Tv or things people around me were saying, for some reason, they all sounded as though they were connected to my book) #4) My ideas for stories were overwhelming and when I wrote them out my brain seemed less crammed #5) Just the sheer fun and excitement and the wonders you realise when you write are good enough a reason for me. Like for example, when I was writing the other week, my imagination was going out of control and I was writing non-stop and it was like my heart was beating faster and faster with each word I wrote… [cont.]

How did 5 become the number of kills to be a fighter ace?
Q. Did this begin in WW!? Do all countries use 5 kills as the standard to declare one of their fighter jocks an ace? Any other interesting trivia related to this you can provide? Thanks!

A. This began in WW1, pilots usually did NOT survive more than 4 kills. So when they shot their 5th opponent, they were survivors and considered aces while most of their crew perished before they could kill their 5th opponent. Survival rate was LOW !

What are the signs that a 5-gallon propane tank is leaking?
Q. I have an RV that uses two 5-gallon propane tanks. One of them is leaking because I go through propane too fast when I have this set in. I have two more 5-gallon tanks and get a month to six weeks of use in the winter when they are connected, but only get two weeks when the other pair are connected. Both pair are used about the same, too, for the weather is fairly warm this winter down south. I'm trying to narrow down which of the two are leaking. The soapy water trick isn't working either.

A. Take one from the first set and put it in the second set. If it still does it then it's the one that remained in the first set. If not then it's the one that you put in the second set.

What is the shape of a 5 sided die with identical faces?
Q. The die could have 5 points or 5 faces, but the faces must all be identical to each other.
Asked by Eee Bee - Mon Jul 9 21:05:53 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The name of the shape would be a pentahedron. All the faces, edges and angles can't all be congruent (regular polyhedra), since there exist only 5 such: tetrahedron - 4 faces made of equilateral triangles hexahedron (aka, a cube) - 6 faces made of regular quadrilaterals (squares) octahedron - 8 faces of equilateral triangles dodecahedron - 12 faces of regular pentagons icosahedron - 20 faces of regular triangles. Whether the 5 faces could be identical but not regular (equilateral), I'm not sure.
