How do you make punch with sherbet and 7-Up or Sprite?
Q. I would like to make pink punch using raspberry sherbet and Sprite or 7-Up, but I don't know how much of each to add. One recipe calles for a gallon of sherbet and 3 - 4 litters of Sprite or 7-Up and the other calls for 1/2 gallon of sherbet with 4 - 6 litters of Sprite or 7-Up. That's quite a big difference.

A. well i think that so recipes want you to taste the sprite more than the sherbet and the other way around i would try both and see which one i like

Has anyone ever made a 7-up cake?
Q. I have a child that is severely allergic to eggs & nuts. His birthday is next week and I heard of a cake made with cake mix and 7-up. I would like to know if any one has tried it and what the cake mix brand & type was used, and how much 7-up. A can? I have tried the vegan egg substitute but the cake did not rise well. I need a cake big enough to feed 30 people. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Asked by Annie - Tue Nov 20 10:40:44 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The measurements are 18 oz cake mix to 1 (12 oz) can of soda. I have made chocolate cake with diet coke and it was great! The cake doesn't rise, but that is expected, but it tasted just like a regular chocolate cake. My grandma has made a white cake with sprite which is also great, so I'm sure you can use any soda as long as it is 12 oz to 18 oz cake mix.

What are "natural flavors" in sodas like 7-up?
Q. I don't think 7-up is made from real lemons and limes...so what are the natural flavors they speak of
Asked by trer - Wed Oct 17 22:39:49 2007 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. 7 Up, in 2006, the U.S. version underwent another reformulation, (it had been several times since its launch in 1929) becoming "100% Natural" with five ingredients: "filtered carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, natural citric acid, natural flavors(lemon and lime oils, extracted from the rinds, or skins, of the fruits) and natural potassium citrate". Classifying this product as "100% Natural" is misleading as high fructose corn syrup is manufactured by using enzymes that convert corn starch into sugar. It should also be noted in other countries, such as the United Kingdom, high fructose corn syrup is not generally used in foods, including 7UP. In 2007, it was announced that 7 Up would stop being marketed as "100% Natural". It… [cont.]

A. Adding vanilla extract will not add the flavor you are thinking about. You can use Italian syrup. Everything is mix to taste. Usually 8 ounces soda to 1 tablespoon syrup.

A. This recipe has been around for years and, judging from its popularity, it will be around for many years to come. 1 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup shortening 3 cups sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon almond extract 5 eggs, at room temperature 3 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup 7 UP For the Glaze: 1/4 cup 7 UP 1/2 cup sugar Preheat oven to 300 F. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Combine butter, shortening, sugar, vanilla and almond extract in the bowl of an electric mixer. Beat until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt, and add to butter/sugar mixture alternately with 1 cup 7 UP, beating well… [cont.]

A. Well, for something different than Heineken that is also light I would recommend Blue Moon. Mostly because since it has orange/citrus in it it might mix well with the citrus in 7-up!

A. That's kind of awesome. In eastern Canada they have birch flavored pop. It's sounds weirder than it is, very close to root beer. Other than that, the only other possible candidate could be those chocolate flavored Skittles. Ugh. I want some Pomegranate 7-Up now though...

Have you ever mixed Sprite or 7 Up with the kind of syrop that you can buy in a bottle?
Q. When I was in the Peace Corps in the Central African Republic in the 70s, I learned to mix soda or pop that way from some French people since they do it a lot. Have you ever tried it? I just mixed Raspberry syrop with Sprite, and it was very good. This is the first time I have posted anything about food or drinks but now will probably start posting something about Fr. cooking, too. Granadine >>> that is good. I use it for cooking even.

How do I read or determine the expiration dates on Dr. Pepper products (Dr. Pepper, 7-Up, A&W, etc)?
Q. The expiration dates of food and drink products are a critically important piece of information to know, especially for someone like me who works in a retail establishment that has a cooler filled with various colas for the customers to enjoy. Pepsi and Coca-Cola both stamp a clear, human-readable expiration date on their products. The Pepsi I'm drinking right now has the expiration date "Nov 19 07" very clearly stamped on the bottle. Coke does something similar, stamping an easily-read and understandable expiration date not only once, but twice on their products ("102207" on the cap ring and "OCT2207" on the bottle itself). As mentioned, Pepsi and Coke are very good at marking expiration dates. Dr. Pepper, however, is not. Instead of… [cont.]

A. This is a really interesting question. I think you are right that it is a production code that they don't want you to know. I worked for several food companies with different codes so I'll tell you how to try to figure it out. First you need to get several examples of the code so you can see what is changing. They usually use either a date, for example H could be a specific month, but do not assume that I is the next month (I told you they were sneaky), and then 7 could be the 7th day and 5 the last digit of the year. Or another possibility is 7 is the seventh month and 225 is the 225th day of the year. Both systems are used. Almost always also included in the code is line number and probably shift number. 7:57 could be time and… [cont.]

How many calories are in a "7 & 7" (Seagram's 7 and 7-up) I'm amazed that this common drink is not on lists.
Q. I'm interested in the calories of a typical bar drink. I can figure it out making one at home, but am unsure what the portion sizes typically are at a bar. I'm not sure if this is considered a "highball."
Asked by hizaleus - Sun Jul 27 16:35:43 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is typically served in a highball glass with ice. It is commonly made with 1 shot of whisky to 6 fluid ounces of 7 Up. So, roughly 150 calories, depending how accurately it's mixed. I know sometimes I get bartenders that go a little strong, some others make drinks a little weak.

A. because they contract with the restaurants to supply the soda, and 7up does not have enough variety to compete. they have RC and 7up,basically,so Pepsi and coke get more contracts.
