I have a piece of great and sad news to tell you: I am dead. True realism consists in revealing the surprising things which habit keeps covered and prevents us from seeing. Mystery has its own mysteries, and there are gods above gods. We have ours, they have theirs. What is line? It is life. A line must live at each point along its course in such a way that the artist’s presence makes itself felt above that of the model... Art produces ugly things which frequently become more beautiful with time... You’ve never seen death? Look in the mirror every day and you will see it like bees working in a glass hive. There are too many souls of wood not to love those wooden characters who do indeed have a soul.

Le Coq et l’Arlequin (1918)

Later published in Le Rappel à L’Ordre (1926) and Collected Works Vol. 9 (1950)
We shelter an angel within us. We must be the guardians of that angel.

A Call to Order (1926)

Le Rappel à l’Ordre (1926)

Opium (1929)

Everything one does in life, even love, occurs in an express train racing toward death...

What're some of your fav songs/music? Mine is....?
Q. ...songs by Edith Piai - anyone heard of her? There is a movie on her - La En Vie Rose currently. Some of her greatest hits were written by herself. Her life story from a blurb on the movie - " From the slums of Paris to the limelight of New York, Edith Piaf s life was a battle to sing and survive, live and love. Raised in poverty, Edith s magical voice and her passionate romances and friendships with the greatest names of the period - Yves Montand, Jean Cocteau, Charles Aznavour, Marlene Dietrich, Marcel Cerdan and others - made her a star all around the world. But in her audacious attempt to tame her tragic destiny, the Little Sparrow - her nickname - flew so high she could not fail to burn her wings." You can listen to some snippets… [cont.]

A. Well, I was born in early 46 and my parents loved the radio. I especially was impressed by music in the early 50's when it shifted out of the big-band era to more individual artists like Patty Page, Doris Day, Teresa Brewer, Jo Stafford and Les Paul/Mary Ford. Piaf was great! "Milord" (not sure of the spelling) was excellent. Though the big-band era was a few years before my time, I groove on it. Spent over 40 years as a DJ/Producer in broadcasting including over 4 years in Minneapolis/St. Paul. In that time, I worked with everything from Classical to Country and yes even 3 years doing a morning show that featured a lot of 40s thru early 60s music. Didn't get really heavy into early rock music from the late 50s but liked material by Dion,… [cont.]
