I've tried to get Dutch magazines for ages, but in the midwest there's just no market for them in bookshops, etc. Even in the traditionally Dutch settled areas like Holland, Michigan. Periodically I can find an issue of De Telegraaf at a newsstand, but that's about it. Books can be ordered online, but the websites are normally in the Dutch language. Still, if you know of an author or a book title, you might try Amazon.com or Alibris.com. Here is a link to some online sources, they have a large collection of links to various sources, including the online versions of newspapers and magazines. You can probably get your mom a foreign subscription if you really want to splash out.
