A train is a connected series of vehicles for rail transport that move along a track (permanent way) to transport freight or passengers from one place to another. The track usually consists of two rails, but might also be a monorail or maglev guideway. Propulsion for the train is provided by a separate locomotive, or from individual motors in self-propelled multiple units. Most modern trains are powered by diesel locomotives or by electricity supplied by overhead wires or additional rails, although historically (from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century) the steam locomotive was the dominant form of locomotive power. Other sources of power (such as horses, rope or wire, gravity, pneumatics, and gas turbines) are possible. I'd like to see your facts. Most of the trains used in wreck scenes are either models or salvaged units. No tourist railroad would sell off their rolling stock. I've been on both the Strasburg and Cass tourist railroads. Believe me, they keep their rolling stock and gladly accept any donations to keep their displays running. I worked on Die Hard 3, The subway cars they used were salvaged and brought to the set on flat bed trucks. The wreck scene was filmed in the old General Dynamics building in Goose Creek SC. After the movie was completed,they were stripped and taken out to the ocean, sunk and are now artificial reefs. How do I know? I was there, running the pumps for the water effects. Q. A relative left me na estate with thousands of model trains and i'd like to sell them.
