A. You need to call the number on the back of your card and ask. Cigna has about 500 different PLANS. Some don't even cover ANY prescriptions.

A. I think that the answer is a little bit of both of the answers above. You should have received a letter from CIGNA that should have quoted the contractual language that they used to base your denial on. This should explain why they are denying your claim. What I would recommend that you do is the following: 1. Confirm why CIGNA is denying your claim, and what the contractual language is that they are basing the decision on. 2. Appeal the claim decision with CIGNA. You do have the legal right to appeal the claim decision under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). You will need to submit, in writing, a letter of appeal to the insurance carrier - it just needs to state that you are appealing the decision made on your… [cont.]

A. The type of insurance you get and how good it is depends on a number of factors. One, location. If you are in the midwest then i would suggest MEGA they insure a number of colleges in the area and tend to work very well. megacustomers.info has helped me alot. Second, deductable and riders. Your deductable is the amount that you must meet each year before the insurance company will start helping with your medical costs. The higher this number, the lower your monthly rates. The riders will factor in next. How many doctor visits a year you want and if you want perscription discounts and accidents covered and things like that will also impact how the insurance works and how much you pay a month. If you are getting a group policy through work… [cont.]

I have a question about Cigna Health Insurance.?
Q. I recently changed my job and my new employer provides Cigna health insurance. I've always had Aetna and could find doctors easily. However, it doesn't seem as though my dermatologist takes Cigna which is weird because she takes every other kind of health coverage. Is Cigna a bad health insurance company with limited choices of doctors who are in their network?
Asked by sweetsparkle - Mon Feb 4 18:22:57 2008 - - 5 Answers - 1 Comments
A. Cigna is no better or no worse than Aetna or any other company but it can depend upon the plan your employer has and your location. In many places Cigna has their own network. In other places the doctors have an option to accept the Cigna network, or any other network. Ask your dermatologist if they'd consider accepting Cigna. If not find one that does or pay the charges out of pocket.

Get it in writing from Cigna Ins if you are really covered before they take your money.?
Q. If a minor cant carry insurance on the parents then that means the parents then carry it. I enrolled my family 4 yrs ago and divorced. My sons dad lost both of his legs and Cigna doesn't want to pay the claim. Go figure. There are no exclusions when enrolling but they have taken my money for 4 yrs and don't want to pay out on the accident. How do children get taken care of if the Insurance companies won't pay out on accidental policies for the parents injuries.
Asked by singleparent - Fri Jul 11 10:43:32 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It not just Cigna, all the insurance companies will do the same thing. Once you are divorced he is no longer eligible to be on the same policy. Of course they took your money; they didn't know you divorced because you didn't tell them. The children get taken care of by parents, not the insurance companies. I'll kiss the 10 points goodbye as well.

Which one is better, United Healthcare HMO or Cigna HMO if you have a chronic health condition?
Q. Hi, I just got a job that offers Cigna or United Healthcare HMO. My hubby has a chronic condition, but I have heard mixed reviews on how they treat people and their coverage. Any suggestions is the best for someone with a chronic condition?

A. Cigna has been the best for my husband with his ongoing chronic condition. Their mail order pharmacy is THE best for maintaince medications. But definately find out who has the better coverage for his condition and who will let you see specialist if his condition changes, i.e. out of network/in network, and how much you have to pay out of pocket for those visits. Also is there a cap on specialist vists. And is there are lifetime treatment cap, i.e. $2M. If he has somthing ongoing, expensive, and not likely to be 'cured' (i.e emphysema, diabetes, etc) he may run out of benefits long before he dies.

A. Why would they want to? It would depend on how long ago you were terminated by the company, how long they keep their records, and if you are applying for the same location/department you were fired from. Best you can do is apply if you see a job you want, and see how it goes.

Why did Cigna refuse to pay for the woman's liver transplant?
Q. Just because you have health insurance does not mean you will receive all medical treatments.
Asked by robert f - Mon Dec 24 23:01:36 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Maybe because she was brain dead, and a liver transplant couldn't help? Liver transplants extend your life, about six months. So, that would have been six more months, brain dead in a coma. Anyway, if Teri Schavo could be starved to death because SHE was brain dead, I think it's silly to expect anyone to pay for a liver transplant for a brain dead person.

How can we stop PPO giants fr/fraud ie United Health, Ingenix when all do it - Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Shield?
Q. Is any group in California working on closing them down or reforming laws to make them stop getting away with highway robbery of premiums to pay their top execs and avoid paying insurance claims for necessary health care? What's up with that?

A. Call youir local FBI field office and the State Insurance Commissioner, State Managed Care Director, Attorney General and the Governor's office and ask. They should be. Those health plans are nothing but rips offs. They cover less than they did 10 years ago and reimburse less than they did on surgeries 10- years ago. I know, I just had the same foot surgery on one side as I did in 1996! Blue Cross paid 4,216 in 1996 and 1475 for the other foot in Jan 2009!!!

Is BlueCross BlueShield better than Cigna?
Q. I've been employed by this company for two years and was always insured through Cigna. They just anounced that they will switch to BlueCross BlueShield. How good or bad is BCBS compared to Cigna? Is it going to be more expensive for me? Am I going to have better coverage if I need to go to the doctor? I live in North Carolina.
Asked by Estebanico - Thu Nov 12 00:29:43 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. In general, neither one is any better than the other. Which one you like and the cost would depend upon what is covered under each policy, how they cover what is most important to you, if your current doctor accepts the new plan, and many more factors. Premiums usually go up each year, and when a business changes companies it is normally because the new plan will be cheaper than the old plan will be (not that the new plan will be cheaper than the old plan was).

A. Call 1-800-CIGNA24. This is an information line, but it will hopefully attach you to a person that can connect you with the right department. These type of dental plans attract dentists that are not the best at what they do. It is ready money for them, when they wouldn't get patients in any other way. I always say to beware of a dental insurance where you have a list of providers that take the insurance. They aren't that good
