From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A sale is the pinnacle activity involved in selling products or services in return for money or other compensation. It is an act of completion of a commercial activity. A sale is completed by the seller, the owner of the goods. It starts with consent (or agreement) to an acquisition or appropriation or request followed by the passing of title (property or ownership) in the item and the application and due settlement of a price, the obligation for which arises due to the seller's requirement to pass ownership, being a price the seller is happy to part with ownership of or any claim upon the item. The purchaser, though a party to the sale, does not execute the sale, only the seller does that. To be precise the sale completes prior to the payment and gives rise to the obligation of payment. If the seller completes the first two above stages (consent and passing ownership) of the sale prior to settlement of the price the sale is still valid and gives rise to an obligation to pay. GNU Free Documentation License What kind of Sales Opportunities are available that do not require any cold-calling? Q. I'm looking for a sales career that has people coming to or calling me. I've been in outside sales for awhile now and I don't know how much longer I can cold call. Any suggestions? Asked by David B - Tue May 22 11:37:41 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. It really depends on what type of sales you want to do. You can do Retail Sales and there is no cold calling at all...the customers come to you. You can do "inside sales" for a business and they will provide qualified leads for you. This means that there is calling required but usually it is not a "cold call". Outside sales is where you will do cold calling. I would direct you in the direction of "Inside sales" to get started. The key exceptions to this are jobs Advertising and PR that are research and quantitative/metrics based. Sales is a great way to understand how a specific (or sometimes general) market act. It also gives you a greater understanding of what, as as PR/Advertising person, you will be supporting. So yes, being successful in sales can be a good start.
